Project Proposal

A proposed renovation of Garry Middle School, which opened in 1970, would update the building’s core to include an updated library, cafeteria, nutrition commons, locker rooms, and restructured offices for enhanced safety to provide better access to a single, secure point of entry.

It is adjacent to Nevada Park, which Parks has identified as in need of improvements, such as play equipment, sport fields, and court improvements. The combined site provides an opportunity for SPS and Parks to coordinate improvement efforts for mutual use by the school and neighborhood communities to maximize efficiencies.

SPS and Parks would work in consultation with neighborhood stakeholders to prioritize amenity improvements that will best meet the community needs.

This proposal will be considered by the SPS Board of Directors, the Spokane Park Board, and the Spokane City Council, who will determine which projects may be included in future ballot measures presented for voters' consideration.
