Improved Maintenance Across All Neighborhood Parks

Improving daily maintenance and management of existing parks’ was viewed as important or essential by two-thirds of residents surveyed as a part of the 2022 Parks and Natural Lands Master Plan. Six in 10 residents felt the city should seek additional funding to maintain its existing offerings. Over the past 20 years, the total percentage of City funds spent on parks has consistently decreased.

This initiative will hire approximately 14 more maintenance staff to better care for parks and park facilities, create a team dedicated to natural land maintenance, and fund the repair and replacement of maintenance equipment.

Key Improvements:

  • More frequent park and restroom cleaning
  • Faster graffiti removal and rubbish pickup
  • Addition of natural lands management crew
  • Annual funding for replacing antiquate maintenance equipment and vehicles
