As there are no public indoor aquatic facilities currently available in Spokane, this project would allow Parks to expand community swimming access throughout the year, creating more opportunities for lifeguard certification training, aquatics exercise classes, adaptive swimming lessons for individuals with special needs, and public lap swim.
An indoor aquatics facility located at Spokane Community College (SCC) has been closed for use since 2020. In agreement with SCC, SPS would provide capital for modernization of the facility for public access through Parks operations.
Additionally, SPS would institute a swimming lesson program for second grade students, facilitated by Parks, and develop high school swim teams.
Renovate Garry Middle School and adjacent Nevada Park to maximize benefit for the school and community
Renovate oldest portions of the building to address issues of efficiency and safety.
Develop southwest fields with Spokane Youth Sports Association to extend field use and support increased student and community interest in recreational activities.

Shadle Park High School Improvements
Partner with the United States Tennis Association to construct an indoor tennis facility at Shadle Park High School.
Develop more fields at the site of former Joe Albi Stadium to double Merkel capacity and support increased student and community interest in recreational activities.
